Sunrise Bliss on the Beach - Honeymoon love story session of Elizabeth and Patrick
This story of E&P’s sunrise couples session in Puerto Escondido will always be on the list of the Best Ones for me as their photographer.
As a photographer living here in Puerto Escondido, I've had countless experiences where I've been lucky enough to capture some truly amazing moments with amazing backdrops of the beach or the mountains.
But occasionally, I come across a couple that just radiates so much love and energy that it's impossible to fit all of their best moments into just ten shots. Elizabeth and Patrick were one of those couples.
When they reached out to me to book a photo session for their honeymoon in Mexico, I knew that we would create some magic together. We chose the most beautiful beach for photography in Puerto Escondido as the location for our shoot, and the sunrise did not disappoint.
As the sun began rising over the horizon, Elizabeth and Patrick arrived at the location, ready to capture the beauty of the moment. The soft, golden light of the sunrise illuminated the sky, and the cool ocean breeze filled the air with refreshing energy.
When we began shooting, it quickly became apparent that Elizabeth and Patrick had a truly special bond. They were completely at ease with each other, and it was clear that their love for each other was deep and genuine. Every time I snapped a photo, I could see their joy and happiness shining through.
The decision on the honeymoon location (Oaxaca and Puerto Escondido) also had its “why”:
Letting Love Shine Bright
As the photo session continued, we moved from one location to the next, capturing the stunning scenery and creating a series of unforgettable memories. From walking along the beach to dancing in the sand, Elizabeth and Patrick were always up for anything, and their enthusiasm was infectious.
I was over the moon when Elizabeth and Patrick told me they treasure every single photo that we had taken together. Their love was so strong and genuine that it had seeped into every single frame, creating a collection of images that would forever remind them of the magic of that special morning in Puerto Escondido.
In the end, I couldn't have asked for a better couple to work with. E&P were truly a joy to be around, and their love was an inspiration to me as a photographer. I will always look back on our session together as one of my top favorite photo shoots taken in Oaxaca, a testament to the power of love, trust, and the beauty of natural landscapes.
Top 5 Tips for a love story photoshoot in Mexico (engagement or Honeymoon):
Plan in advance. Yes, Mexico can be unpredictable sometimes, from the weather to the punctuality of locals (the laid-back, relaxed life here in the South has its pros and cons, right?). Are you planning to be in that location for a day just for the photo session? Expand it for 2 days just in case (if everything goes according to plan, you’ll have another day to enjoy, but if it suddenly rains at sunset, you have that backup to move the session to the next sunrise).
Dialogue: When you’re already in the session, don’t be afraid to talk, or laugh (shout?) throughout the shoot. Share those inside jokes, laugh at each other's stories, and finish each other's sentences. Your photographer will capture these moments, and they add a beautiful layer of intimacy to the photos.
Shared Experiences: Do activities you both enjoy. I took E&P to a place that was special to them. I photographed them walking hand in hand along the shore, and the joy and nostalgia were evident in their expressions.
Body Language: Body language is another important element of the shoot. Maintain physical connection most of the time: hold hands, touch each other, hug each other! Look at how these guys held each other close, looked into each other's eyes, and touched each other in small but meaningful ways - that reflects in your couples photoshoot.
Enjoy your time. Yes, you prepared for this photoshoot, yes, you flew to Oaxaca, yes, these photos are important (why would a couples photographer say otherwise?). But at the end of the day, the most important side of it is you—your love, your feelings for each other, and you spending those couple hours on the beach and enjoying that sunrise or sunset. Rain or shine, you have your most important person by your side, and that’s what matters most.
Let's capture your special day!
